MSD Facility
|
Millitech's Manufacturing Services Division (MSD) operates out of two adjacent facilities in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. Millitech operates them as secure facilities that cannot be accessed without a cardkey. All facilities are alarmed and monitored as well. |
| |
The building located at 5 North Street in South Deerfield is a 24,000 square foot manufacturing facility with office space, manufacturing cells, and high bay production space. The production areas are equipped with benches, tools, work stations, fixturing, and acceptance test stations. The remainder of the facility is laid out for antenna and pedestal fabrication and system-level testing of units up to 10 feet in diameter. The integration area is a 14' high bay outfitted with a modular crane system to assemble any large weldments used in typical pedestal configurations. |

The MSD building located at 6 North Street is a 16,000 square foot manufacturing facility including the office space required to support manufacturing personnel. This building supports manufacturing and depot repair for all submarine satcom programs including HDR and NESP. This facility contains the RF lab, a Class 100,000 clean room, assembly labs, high bay production space, thermal chambers, and a state-of-the-art Indoor Compact Test Range. |
|
RF Lab |
The RF lab is equipped for mechanical and RF subassembly work. All RF subassemblies, such as feeds, waveguides, and polarizers are assembled, tuned, and tested within this lab. The lab has a large inventory of test equipment and RF components required for the wide range of satcom frequencies used on the various Millitech programs. |
 |
| |
Thermal Chambers |
MSD has two Thermotron thermal chambers capable of performing temperature cycling and environmental screening as required for certain programs. These chambers are also utilized for design qualification testing. | |

Indoor Compact Antenna Test Range |
One of the core assets of MSD is the Indoor Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR). This range operates in an absorber lined room optimized for performance at higher microwave and millimeter wave frequencies. It features a test zone (quiet zone), which can test in the frequency range of 2 to 110 GHz and has an aperture size of 4 feet in the 2 to 6 GHz range and 6 feet in the 6 to 110 GHz range. This facility enables technicians to test antennas in a climate-controlled environment safely, eliminating weather induced variability. The range is equipped with an 50 GHz Agilent Phased Network Analyzer and an Orbit positioner. The state of the art equipment provides excellent test and characterization capability for these demanding frequency ranges and is one of the few compact antenna ranges in the world capable of testing at higher frequencies. |
