Millitech designs and develops space, military, and commercial products. State-of-the-art software such as HFSS, GRASP, and ADS, plus many other modeling programs for antennas, filters, and Gaussian optics optimize the designs of equipment from miniaturized MMIC modules to integrated hybrid assemblies. Depending on customer requirements, Millitech is able to achieve quick turnaround time and smooth transitions to volume manufacturing for most designs.
CAD/CAE Department
Millitech's Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Design departments utilize a wide variety of CAD/CAE design tools. Printed circuit board design, mechanical design, manufacturing drawings, the configuration of systems, and the development of new products are all facilitated by Millitech's CAD/CAE capability. In the area of electrical and millimeter-wave design, a wide range of commercial and in-house software programs reside on several dedicated computers. For routine mechanical design/drafting as well as complete three-dimensional product definition and thermal/structural analysis, dedicated computers operating with AutoCAD LT™ 2D drawing software, SolidWorks™ solid modeling software and CosmosWorks™ analysis software are used.
Our internal machine shop interfaces with the CAD/CAE users in the process of converting designs into manufacturable hardware through the use of Mastercam™ programming software as well as CNC milling/turning centers. Millitech also maintains an in-house software support department that continually upgrades these software programs while supporting all computational and analytical requirements.
Microwave CAD DepartmentA number of networked computer workstations running the Linux and Windows NT operating systems are dedicated exclusively to millimeter-wave circuit and component design.
These platforms are equipped with the following major microwave design suites:
Waveguide Synthesis Program (WASP) is a design program that uses a fast and accurate mode-matching technique for the design of inductive iris (H-plane) filters, metal insert filters, aperture iris filters, E-plane iris filters and E-plane sub filters, and double-step transformers.
Advanced Design System (ADS) from Agilent is an extensive design and modeling suite for active and passive microwave circuits, both linear and non-linear. ADS is one of the most capable general-purpose microwave circuit design systems available in the industry.
Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) performs complete finite element electromagnetic modeling of three-dimensional passive linear microwave circuits, including radiating structures. This extremely powerful design tool is used for many types of millimeter-wave components, particularly antennas, antenna feeds, and other antenna components.
TICRA's GRASP Physical Optics software provides accurate simulation and opmization of reflector antennas. GRASP, combined with our own internally-developed Lagrangian optimization algorithms, allows us to develop optimal antenna designs with first-pass success. GRASP utilizes Physical Theory of Diffraction (PTD) and Geometric Theory of Diffraction (GTD) methods to analyze electrically large antennas and has proven to be computationally efficient compared to other methods. |
