Millitech was formed as a Massachusetts corporation in January, 1982 by Dr. G. Richard Huguenin. Dr. Huguenin directed Harvard's Space Radio Astronomy Program from 1963 until 1968 and founded the Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1968.
In 1993 Millitech Corporation acquired the millimeter-wave product line from Hughes Aircraft Company. This acquisition nearly doubled the capability of Millitech's catalog product line and effectively made Millitech the foremost manufacturer of millimeter-wave components, assemblies, and systems. Virtually every millimeter-wave product is offered either as a standard product or as a custom design built to specific requirements.
In 2005 Millitech became part of the Smiths Interconnect family of companies, combining the technical base and responsiveness of Millitech with the resources of the Smiths Group plc. The Interconnect division businesses focus on the design and manufacture of specialized electronic and radio frequency products that connect, protect, and control critical systems for the wireless telecommunications, aerospace, defense, space, and medical markets.
